Holiday Wine Tasting on December 19, 2016

Kick off Christmas week with a holiday wine tasting in New Castle, Colorado! We’ll sample four wines that are wonderful to serve and make great gifts, including a sparkling Italian Moscato, a buttery Napa Valley Chardonnay, a California Bordeaux-style blend and an Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Gemma di Luna — Gemma di Luna is an Italian sparkling wine crafted from Moscato grapes grown in Italy’s Piemonte region. The wine displays a lovely straw color and an intense, yet delicate bouquet. Its juicy grape notes and the luscious fresh fruit flavors of nectarine, peach and apple are balanced by a vibrant acidity. At 7.5% ABV, Gemma di Luna also satisfies the growing trend towards lower alcohol choices.
JaM Butter Chardonnay — Rich, bold and luscious, this is an easy-to-love creamy California Chardonnay. Made in the tradition of Californian winemaking, the fruit has juicy, ripe, stone fruit and baked-lemon aromas. It’s cold fermented to the perfect, rich creaminess and aged in a blend of oak, which gives this wine a lovely, long, vanilla finish that’s uniquely Butter!
Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Collection Black Label Claret — Diamond Collection Claret typically includes some combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec to create a prestige Bordeaux-style blend, bottled with gold netting in the way Europe’s finest wines were once presented. Claret fruit is grown in a range of vineyards from diverse locations, which results in greater complexity.
Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon — A powerful wine from the hillsides of Alexander Valley: Lush, dark berries and ripe plums dominate the glass, while hints of cassis and cocoa play in the background. The soft, supple and mature tannins give this wine a strong backbone, while the 18 months of barrel aging have softened the wine enough to enjoy now. Pair this wine with braised short ribs, lamb shanks, beef ravioli or cellar for enjoyment over the next few years.
