Welcome to New Castle Liquors

 In News

Greetings from Scott and Mandy Gauldin of New Castle Liquors. Thanks for checking out our blog. We hope you’ll visit us in person at the store soon, if you haven’t already. Here’s some information to help you get to know us a little better.

Scott and Mandy Gauldin at New Castle LiquorsAfter vacationing in Colorado for many years, we decided we wanted to live and raise our kids in the mountains. We moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Glenwood Springs in 2002 and lived there for 12 years.

When both kids went off to college and the nest was empty, it was time for Scott to make a career change. Apparently 27 years in banking is long enough. We sold our house and spent almost a year traveling around the country in an RV. Our route went from Colorado to Oregon to Maine to West Virginia to Arizona, with lots of stops along the way. As you might guess, we visited many breweries and wineries.

After 10 months on the road—traveling more than 23,000 miles and visiting 27 states—we decided it was time to come home and found a home in New Castle. We purchased the former Elmer Suds Liquor Mart in September 2015, and have renamed it New Castle Liquors.

Although the name is new, this neighborhood liquor store is not. You’ll still find a lot of the same friendly faces that you’ve gotten to know during the past 17 years.

You’ll also find a great selection of local, regional, domestic and imported beers, wines and liquors, with new products coming in regularly. There are now more than 80 new wines and dozens of new beers and spirits in the store, many of which are locally made. We’ve been able to lower prices on many items by buying in larger quantities. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, let us know. Special orders and case discounts are available.
